Efrat Barashi Meppen
FUROSHIKI Expert & Researcher
The Intersection of History, Sustainability, and The Art of Textile Gifting
The Story
After a distinguished 15-year career as a senior editor and journalist at Israel’s premier media outlets- including Channel 13, Haaretz, The Marker, and Walla - I pivoted to my lifelong passion: the cultural and aesthetic depth of Japanese textiles.
My journey led me to the heart of Kyoto, where I embarked on extensive research that transformed my understanding of Furoshiki. Rather than a mere craft, my work reveals Furoshiki as a significant chapter in Japanese history- a unique language and a profound cultural system.
Today, I am a prominent voice in the Israeli media, sharing insights on design, sustainability, and the Japanese "Art of Living."
